Walk into Croham Hurst Woods from Warlingham and you're immediately swallowed by proper old-growth woodland - the kind where the canopy blocks out most of the sky and the paths feel like they've been trodden for centuries. It's a genuine Surrey gem, not some manicured country park, which means the walking is what you come for. The woods roll across undulating terrain with enough gradient to get your heart going without turning it into a slog, and the beech and oak trees are genuinely impressive specimens.
