Cricket Pavilion

The Cricket Pavilion in Inverurie is the sort of place that appeals most if you're already in town for something else, or if you've got a genuine interest in watching a match. It's a modest sporting venue - nothing grand, nothing that'll knock your socks off - but it serves the local cricket club well enough and the ground itself is pleasant enough when the weather cooperates.

You'll see a functional pavilion building, the pitch, and the usual trappings of a provincial cricket ground. If there's a match on, you can settle in to watch, which is quite a nice way to spend an afternoon if you enjoy the sport. Outside of fixtures, though, there's not much to do here. It's not a tourist attraction in the traditional sense.

This works best if you're staying at Hillhead Caravan Park, just under three miles away, and you fancy catching a local match or wandering over to see what the ground looks like. Cricket enthusiasts will appreciate it; families without a particular interest in the sport won't find much to keep them occupied for long. Opening hours and admission charges aren't widely publicised, so ring ahead before you make the trip.

For a Deeside holiday based around the caravan park, it's a decent option if the fixture list aligns with your visit, but don't plan your entire break around it. The wider Aberdeenshire landscape and Inverurie itself offer far more substantial reasons to be in this corner of the Highlands.
