Crick Jubilee Wood

The path through Crick Jubilee Wood is straightforward enough - a decent loop that takes you through proper woodland without any faffing about with overgrown routes or scrambling. It's the sort of place you pop into for an hour or so whilst exploring the Lutterworth area, not somewhere you'd plan a day around, but perfectly pleasant for that.

Woodland reserves like this one tend to work best for families with younger kids who still find sticks and fallen logs genuinely exciting, or for anyone keen on spotting birds and identifying trees. The walking is gentle, manageable stuff - nothing that'll knackered you out before lunch. In spring the bluebells come through properly, which does lift it above your standard copse.

Access and timing aren't guaranteed without checking locally first, though most woodland reserves are open year-round and free to wander. Allow a comfortable hour if you're taking your time, less if you're just after a quick stretch of the legs. The site works well as a break during a caravan holiday from any of the nearby parks - Steepleton Lodge Glamping and Bunkers Hill Farm are both within four miles, so you could easily slot this in between other activities around Stanford Hall or Lutterworth itself.

Go when it's not been raining for days, mind. The woodland can get a bit bog-like and muddy underfoot when conditions are wet. Autumn's decent too if you're after that muted light and fewer people about.
