Crichton's Cairn

The walk up Crichton's Cairn rewards you with proper views across the Stirling area - nothing dramatic, but solid and sweeping once you're at the top. It's a straightforward pull from the Glasgow side, taking maybe an hour if you're not dawdling, and the cairn itself is a decent spot to sit with a packed lunch and watch the landscape sprawl out below.

This isn't a major peak by any stretch. You won't find crowds or infrastructure, which is either a blessing or a bore depending on what you want from a Scottish hill. Walkers after some easy leg-work will get their money's worth, and families with reasonably fit kids will find it manageable without needing a full day's commitment. History types might be less gripped - it's the views that do the talking here, not any particular story.

Allow a couple of hours all in if you want to take your time and actually sit about at the top. There's no admission charge - it's just a walk in the Scottish hills as they should be.
