About Cribarth
Allow two to three hours for a steady round trip from the car park. The path is well-trodden if occasionally muddy, and it suits walkers of moderate fitness more than families with small children - the ascent is genuine work. History buffs will appreciate the ridge walks here, which have been used as travel routes for centuries. The moorland itself has that raw, open feel you get across Mid Wales, with gorse and heather depending on season.
There's no charge to walk it, and no facilities at the summit itself, so bring water and snacks. Best visited in spring or early autumn when the weather's more reliable and you're not contending with the worst of the wind. Winter rain can make the paths treacherous.
If you're basing yourself at Brecon Beacons Camping & Caravan Park just down the road, Cribarth makes for a cracking day out without the drive. Four Falls Glamping is a bit further but still within reasonable distance if you want something with more creature comforts. The ridge connects with other walks across the area, so it's worth pairing with a second route if you're keen.
