Cremer's Meadow

Out on the edge of Wroxham, Cremer's Meadow sits quietly alongside the Norfolk Broads - one of those spots you'd never find unless someone told you about it first. It's a proper bit of open grassland with real character, the sort of place where you can actually breathe without tourist crowds pressing in. The meadow opens up onto views of the water and surrounding marshland, and on a clear day the light does something rather special across the fens.

The paths are straightforward enough, though they can get muddy after rain, which is worth knowing if you're bringing kids. You're looking at thirty minutes to an hour here unless you're keen to linger with a camera or a notebook.

The meadow works best as part of a longer Broads exploration rather than a solo destination. Pair it with a walk along the water's edge or a spot of birdwatching if you've got binoculars to hand. Spring and early autumn are when it looks its best - wildflowers scattered across the grass, and the light isn't quite so flat as it can be in high summer. It's not flashy or dramatic, but that's rather the point. Sometimes the Norfolk countryside's appeal is in its quietness.
