Creag na Sanais

The walk up Creag na Sanais from Newtonmore is a proper hill - not technical, but it demands respect and decent legs. You're looking at a solid climb to just over 650 metres, with views across the Monadhliath mountains that honestly take your breath away (though that might partly be the gradient). The summit itself is less crowded than some of the bigger draws round here, which makes it worth doing even if you're only moderately fit.

From the top on a clear day, you see right across Badenoch and into the Cairngorms. The approach through the lower slopes is genuinely nice - mixed woodland opening out to moorland and scree. Most people allow three to four hours for a return trip, depending on fitness. It's free, obviously, and you can start straight from the village.

This works well if you're camped at Invernahavon or Laggan Glamping - both are within spitting distance and offer proper bases for exploring the Highland hills. It's the sort of walk that appeals to serious walkers who want something achievable without needing technical gear, but casual strollers might find it a slog without the payoff matching the effort. Weather matters hugely here; on a grey day, the views disappear and you're just grinding uphill for the sake of it. Come when the conditions are decent and you won't regret the push.
