You're looking at a straightforward hill walk rather than technical scrambling. The approach is gentle enough that families with older kids can manage it without complaint, though the final push does steepen a bit. On a clear day you get solid views across the Monadh Liath range, and on grey ones you'll at least know you've earned the hot drink waiting back in town.

Allow roughly two hours for the round trip if you're a steady walker, three if you're taking it easy or stopping to sit a while. There's no charge and no visitor centre - just you, the hill, and whatever weather the Highlands feel like throwing at you that morning.

If you're based at Invernahavon Caravan Park, this makes a cracking half-day outing between longer expeditions. It's close enough that you won't waste half your time driving, but proper enough to feel like you've actually been out walking rather than just having a stroll. The town of Newtonmore itself is handy for supplies and a decent cafe when you're done.
