The walk up Craig Wood Hill rewards you with proper views across Perthshire - the sort of outlook that justifies the leg work to get there. It's not a massive undertaking, and from Erigmore you're barely a mile or so from the base, which makes it ideal for a morning sortie before breakfast or a late-afternoon climb when the light starts getting interesting.

What you're after here is elevation without the slog of a full mountain day. The hill itself offers woodland and open moorland, depending which route you take, and on a clear day the visibility stretches far enough to make the effort feel worthwhile. It's the kind of walk that takes a decent hour or so, depending on your pace and how many times you stop for photos.

Families with older kids will manage this without complaint. Younger ones might find it a bit steep for what it is, though the woodland sections break things up nicely. It's genuinely worth doing if you're staying at Erigmore Holiday Park or Inver Mill Farm - both are practically on the doorstep - rather than a reason to make a special journey from somewhere else in the region.

Go early or late in the day if you want peace. Midday can see a fair few local walkers about, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just means the narrow bits get a bit crowded. There's nothing complicated about access - this isn't a restricted area - and it costs nothing.
