Cowplain Church

All Saints Church sits on a quiet lane in Cowplain, just outside Emsworth, and it's one of those places that rewards a small detour if you're staying at the nearby parks. The church itself is Victorian - built in 1863 - with that solid brick construction you see across Hampshire, and inside there's genuinely interesting stained glass and a calm, straightforward interior that feels lived-in rather than museum-like.

It's not a showstopper like some of the grander Sussex churches. You won't spend hours here, realistically. Twenty minutes, maybe thirty if you're properly into Victorian ecclesiastical architecture. What makes it worth knowing about is the setting - the churchyard is genuinely pleasant, with mature trees and a real sense of being tucked away from the main drag.

If you're glamping at Wallops Wood or touring at ScottsHaven, both close by, this works as a gentle morning walk. The lanes around it are decent for stretching your legs without committing to anything strenuous. It's particularly good if you've got older children or grandparents in tow who'd rather not tackle a proper hiking route but still want to feel like they've done something purposeful.

No charge to visit - these village churches rarely do - and there's no real opening hours issue. It's there when you want it. Not a must-do, but if you're in the area and the weather's decent, the short walk to find it beats sitting in a caravan.
