The lakes themselves are genuinely lovely for a walk around, with decent paths and decent views depending on which one you're circling. Water sports enthusiasts come for the sailing and fishing; families with younger kids get an hour's worth of duckwatching and cafe time. The real appeal is that it's close enough to Cirencester for a half-day activity without feeling like you're driving miles for a modest body of water.

Walkers will find it a solid spot on a wider Cotswolds loop - nothing that'll take your breath away, but the paths are well-maintained and the whole setup benefits from proper management. Bring binoculars if you're into that sort of thing; the bird life is respectable. The cafe serves the basics and isn't trying to fleece you, which helps.

Staying at Hoburne Cotswold Holiday Park just 2.5 miles away makes this an obvious morning or late-afternoon diversion. Park Farm Campsite is slightly further but worth considering if you want a quieter base - both give you easy access to Cotswold Lakes without needing a second car journey. It's the sort of place that works better as part of a broader stay rather than a solo trip, but if you're based nearby, don't skip it.
