History enthusiasts will find this genuinely absorbing. The exhibits explain civil defence thinking of the era without the usual museum softening - you get a sense of how people genuinely believed they might survive a nuclear strike down here, however misguided that optimism seems now. Most visitors spend 1.5 to 2 hours moving through the different sections. It's not interactive or loud, so young children might struggle with the pace, but teenagers interested in Cold War politics will find it thought-provoking.

Worth checking ahead for opening times and admission charges, as this is a specialist attraction without regular tourist infrastructure.
