The walk up Cock Law rewards you with proper views across the Perthshire landscape - on a clear day you can see right across to the Ochil Hills. It's a modest peak rather than a serious mountain, which makes it ideal if you're camping nearby at Greenhill Farm Glamping or Maycroft Retreat and want something achievable without full hiking kit.

The climb takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour depending on fitness and the path condition. It's steep in patches but nothing technical, and the terrain is mostly grass and moorland - bring decent boots because it can get boggy underfoot after rain. The summit itself is fairly bare, so there's not much shelter if weather rolls in, but that openness is exactly why the views work so well.

This suits walkers more than families with small children - the path isn't particularly kid-friendly and there's nothing at the top to hold their interest for long. That said, teenagers who like being outdoors will find it worthwhile. From Perth itself it's only a short drive, making it a half-day outing that doesn't demand too much planning.

If you're doing a caravan holiday at Gallowhill or Broadslap Farm, Cock Law works as a morning walk before heading elsewhere in the region. It's not the sort of peak people plan trips around, but if you're already in Perthshire and the weather's decent, the effort is genuinely worth it. The views justify the muddy boots.
