Clodgy Point

The walk out to Clodgy Point from St Ives takes about twenty minutes if you're moving at a reasonable pace, and it's one of those Cornish headland stretches that rewards you properly. You're standing on proper granite, looking back at the curve of Porthminster Beach and out across the Celtic Sea - when the light's right, it's genuinely arresting. The path itself is straightforward enough, hugging the cliff edge without being treacherous, though I wouldn't recommend it in a gale.

What makes it special isn't that it's remote or undiscovered - plenty of people know about it. What works is the scale of the view and the fact you can reach it without needing serious walking boots or a packed lunch. Families with kids of eight or nine upwards will manage it fine. The cliffs aren't dramatic enough to cause vertigo but tall enough to feel like you've actually got somewhere.

If you're staying at Polmanter Touring Park or St Ives Holiday Village, this is your sort of thing - a morning's outing that doesn't swallow your whole day. Park in St Ives town centre and start from the southern end near the Tate. Go when the tide's out if you want to poke around the rocks at the base, but honestly the headland walk itself is the draw. Free, obviously. Gives you a proper sense of the Cornish coast without the crowds you'd hit at Godrevy or Perranporth.
