The walk to Clive Freshwater is more rewarding than the destination itself, if I'm honest. Set in the Scottish Highlands near Aviemore, this historic site sits tucked into moorland that rolls on forever in every direction. You're looking at what remains of a freshwater source that once held significance - the sort of place that makes sense when you're standing there with a map, less so when you're trying to explain it to someone back home.

It's genuinely a spot for walkers and history types rather than anyone after a quick photo stop. The landscape around it is the real draw - that vast, open Highland feel that makes you understand why people came here centuries ago. Allow a couple of hours if you're combining it with a proper moorland walk from Aviemore, which sits about a mile away. You'll need decent boots and shouldn't attempt it in poor visibility.

Worth the detour if you're already based at Dalraddy Holiday Park or exploring the wider area around Aviemore. It's the sort of place that rewards curiosity more than crowds. Don't make it your sole reason for a day out - but do factor it in if you're tackling the Highland walks properly. The solitude is the thing here, really.
