Clitters Plantation

A proper woodland walk through softwood plantation just outside Launceston, Clitters Plantation offers straightforward forest trails without the crowds you'd find at bigger attractions. The trees are close-planted and regimented - it's not ancient forest, but it's green, quiet, and does the job if you need a decent hour or so of fresh air and cover from the Cornish drizzle.

The walking here is easy enough for families with kids who can manage a steady pace, though there's nothing remarkable about the landscape. You're walking among conifers mostly, so don't expect dramatic views. What you get instead is the simple satisfaction of being under tall trees with a decent network of paths. It's the sort of place where you can actually think, which seems rarer than it should be.

If you're camping at Trewithen Farm Glamping or Ekopod Glamping nearby, this fills a gap nicely - close enough for a morning stroll before heading elsewhere. Don't make it your main event. The real value here is proximity and convenience rather than any knockout feature. Free to wander, no facilities to speak of, best visited when the ground isn't waterlogged. Go in late spring or early autumn when the light filters through properly. It's a pleasant enough detour if you're in the area, but you won't regret skipping it for somewhere with more character.
