Dense woodland carpets the slopes here, offering proper forest walks without the crowds you'll find on the main Malvern Hills paths. The trees create a lovely canopy that keeps things cool even on warm summer days, making it a cracking alternative when the exposed hilltops feel too exposed.

Families with energetic kids will find plenty to explore among the winding paths, though pushchairs are definitely out of the question on the steeper sections. Dog walkers particularly love it here - there's enough space for hounds to have a proper run about while staying within shouting distance.

The woodland sits just outside Malvern, so it's easily reached from any of the nearby holiday parks like Riverside Caravan Park or Malvern Hills Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. You could easily combine a morning woodland ramble with an afternoon exploring Malvern's shops and cafes.

Allow a good hour or two if you want to do the place justice, though younger children might start flagging after 45 minutes unless you pack snacks. The paths can get muddy after rain, so proper walking boots are worth bringing. It's not the most spectacular woodland in Gloucestershire, but it's peaceful and well worth the detour if you're staying locally.
