Chygurno

Chygurno sits on Cornwall's far western edge, a granite outcrop that juts into the Atlantic with the kind of views that make you understand why people moved to this county in the first place. It's not a manicured tourist spot - there's no visitor centre, no gift shop, no interpretive panels explaining what you're looking at. You just get the rock, the sea, and on a clear day, the sense that you're standing at the absolute edge of things.

Walkers will get the most from this one. The scramble up takes maybe ten minutes from the nearest parking, and it's rough enough to feel like an achievement without being genuinely technical. The reward is a 360-degree view across Mount's Bay toward Mousehole and Penzance, with the Mounts Bay itself spread out below like something from a postcard nobody quite believes is real.

Newlyn, just a few miles away, has all the facilities you'd need - cafes, shops, a working harbour that's still properly functional rather than tourist-fied. If you're based at Roselands Caravan Camping Park or Lands End Camping & Glamping, Chygurno makes a cracking morning excursion before heading to one of the bigger attractions. It's free, it takes an hour tops including the walk and the sitting-about-staring-at-the-view bit, and it won't be rammed with people taking selfies. Worth the detour if you're already in the area.
