Chicken Plantation

The walk through Chicken Plantation near Holt is straightforward woodland stuff, nothing flashy. You get mature trees, decent paths, and the kind of quiet that makes you actually notice birdsong. It's a proper forest walk rather than a showpiece attraction - the sort of place locals know about and visitors stumble upon by accident.

The trees here are well-established, which means decent shade in summer and some shelter when the Norfolk wind picks up. There's no interpretive signage or facilities to speak of, so come expecting a simple woodland ramble rather than an organised visitor experience. Allow an hour or so if you're moving at a leisurely pace, longer if you're the sort who stops to identify fungi or watch for woodland birds.
