Chase Wood

You won't find Chase Wood signposted heavily or crowded with tour groups. It's a proper working forest just outside Kenilworth, the kind of place locals know about but visitors often walk straight past. The woodland itself is decent enough - mixed trees, reasonably maintained paths, nothing spectacular but honest. Walkers get the most from it. The paths are straightforward, no scrambling or navigation nightmares, and you can knock out a decent hour here without feeling rushed.

It's free to access and there's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared. The forest sits in fairly quiet countryside, so it feels properly removed from the tourist trail despite being minutes from Kenilworth. If you're camping at Mousley House Farm or staying at Knight's Village near Warwick Castle, it makes a low-key morning walk before heading to the bigger attractions. It won't change your life, but it's a useful escape from the manicured park lawns.

Better for adults than kids, truth be told - children will want something with more going on after about thirty minutes. Go when it's not soaking wet; winter mud here gets genuinely thick. The nearest substantial town is Kenilworth itself, which has proper amenities if you need them. Don't hype it up in your head. Chase Wood is what it says on the tin - a wood, walkable, quiet, and free. That's exactly enough.
