This is proper walker territory rather than a casual stroll. Allow a good hour for the ascent and descent, depending on fitness. The path is well-trodden but can be muddy after rain, so decent boots matter. Spring and autumn are particularly lovely - visibility is usually better and you dodge the summer crowds.

Families with older kids will find it manageable; younger ones might flag on the steeper sections. History buffs will appreciate the vantage point itself - this elevated position has mattered for centuries. The hill sits well within reach of several quality caravan and glamping options. Don't expect facilities at the top - bring water and a snack. The real value is the walking itself and those valley views. On a clear day it's absolutely first-rate.
