Chambered Graves

A handful of Neolithic burial mounds scattered across boggy ground - that's what Chambered Graves amounts to, and honestly, they're more interesting in concept than in person. You're looking at lumps of earth with stone chambers inside, dating back around 5,500 years, which sounds grand until you actually stand in front of them and realise there's not much to see without proper excavation work.

They're dotted around the Fermanagh and Omagh area, so you won't visit them all in one go. The draw here is archaeological - if you care about Neolithic settlement patterns and funerary practices, this stuff matters. If you just want to tick off a sightseeing spot, frankly, you'll be disappointed within fifteen minutes.

You don't need to book ahead or pay admission, which is the only proper advantage. The land belongs to various private owners, so access can be patchy depending on where exactly the graves are located. Omagh's the nearest town for provisions and parking, though Gortin Glen Glamping sits much closer if you're staying over - that's your best base for exploring the wider landscape without driving into town.

These work best alongside a broader walking trip through the boglands and moorland around Sperrins rather than as a standalone attraction. Suit yourself if you're into archaeology or landscape walks. Everyone else should probably save their time for sites with more visible remains or better visitor facilities.
