Cei Meadows Dog Park

Your dog will absolutely lose it the moment you arrive at Cei Meadows. This off-lead space in Flintshire gives your four-legged mate proper room to sprint about without you constantly yanking them back on the lead - which, let's be honest, is half the reason we take them anywhere. It's a straightforward dog park: open grassland, well-maintained, and genuinely useful if you're staying nearby and your spaniel or terrier has been cooped up all morning.

The nearest town is Chester, which is close enough that you could easily combine this with a day exploring the city's medieval walls and shopping streets, though Cei Meadows itself is very much the rural counterpart to all that fuss. You won't need more than an hour here unless your dog is particularly antisocial and takes ages to warm up to other dogs. Best visited early morning or late afternoon when the crowds thin out and the temperature drops - summer middays can get a bit warm for running about.

If you're basing yourself at one of the local glamping spots - Honeypot Hideaways and Willow Farm are both excellent nearby - this makes a worthwhile stop on your daily walks. It's not a day out in itself, but for families with energetic dogs, it's exactly the sort of place that keeps everyone happy without requiring extensive planning or expense. Oakwood Farm Touring Park is also close by if you're caravan-bound. Just bring water for the dog and check conditions before you go; muddy patches after rain are unavoidable.
