Ceann Caol Druim a' Bhìdh

The walk up Ceann Caol Druim a' Bhìdh isn't particularly famous, which is exactly why it's worth doing. This modest peak sits above Kyle of Lochalsh, and from the top you get proper views across to Skye and down the loch - the kind of panorama that makes the slog worthwhile without the crowds you'd find on more celebrated hills. Allow yourself a good three to four hours if you're not a regular fell walker. The path is rough and boggy in places, especially after rain, so proper boots matter. Summer's your best bet weather-wise, though the midges can be relentless.

This is a hill for people who actually like walking rather than Instagram stops. You won't find a cafe at the summit or even a proper cairn to sit on - just you and the wind and views that stretch for miles. If you're staying at Reraig Caravan & Camping just down the road on Skye, it's a decent half-day outing that gets you away from the tourist trail without requiring a car journey. Kids aged ten and up would manage it fine, younger ones will struggle with the boggy bits and lose interest before the top. The ascent isn't technical, just relentless and damp.
