A small Methodist chapel sits quietly in Cayton, just inland from Scarborough's seafront chaos. The building itself is modest - red brick, straightforward Victorian lines - but it's the kind of place where you can actually feel the weight of a century and a half of Sunday services, weddings, and funerals.

There's not much to "do" here in the conventional sense. This isn't a tourist attraction with exhibits or guided tours. What you get is a moment of stillness. The interior is simple and spare, exactly as Methodist chapels tend to be - wooden pews, clear glass windows, nothing ostentatious. If you're into religious architecture or local history, it's worth a quiet look. For everyone else, it's more of a stop-off if you're walking the village.

Cayton itself is a proper little place, the kind of spot families heading to Scarborough sometimes miss entirely. If you're based at Humble Bee Farm Glamping or Centenary Way just down the road, a wander through the village takes ten minutes flat. It's the sort of thing that breaks up a park holiday nicely - a bit of genuine Yorkshire village life rather than the theme park atmosphere of the coast.

Best visited in daylight. There's no admission fee that I'm aware of, and no strict opening hours - it's a working church, so access depends on what's on. Ring ahead if you want to be certain you'll get inside. Worth twenty minutes maximum if you're passing through.
