Castle Acre Priory

The ruins of Castle Acre Priory sit just outside Swaffham like a stone memory of medieval ambition. What you're looking at are the remains of a Cluniac monastery founded in the 11th century - soaring walls, crumbling archways, and enough architectural fragments to keep history buffs absorbed for a good couple of hours.

The site sprawls across several acres, so you'll want proper walking shoes.
