Carn Siân

Getting to the top of Carn Siân is a proper slog, but the effort pays off in spades. This Pembrokeshire peak sits near Clynderwen and rewards walkers with views that stretch across the Preseli Hills - on a clear day you'll see for miles. The walk itself isn't technical, just relentlessly uphill through moorland, so bring decent boots and water. Allow two hours there and back if you're not rushing.

It's the kind of place that appeals to serious hill-walkers rather than casual strollers. Kids will either love the challenge or complain about it within twenty minutes - depends on their legs and your patience. The landscape feels remote and windswept, which is exactly what makes it worth doing. No facilities at the top, just views and a lot of Welsh countryside. Free to visit, naturally.

Combine it with other Preseli routes rather than making it a standalone trip - there's not much down time at the summit, and you'll want to maximise your time outdoors while you're in this part of West Wales. Best visited in decent weather; on a murky day the whole point of being up there rather quickly becomes moot.
