Capmbell's Wood

The woodland paths at Campbell's Wood are exactly what you want when you've had enough of caravan site facilities and need to actually stretch your legs. East of Everthorpe, this bit of Yorkshire woodland gives you genuine forest cover without the tourist crush you'd get at more famous spots. It's proper walking country - dappled light through decent-sized trees, soft ground underfoot, and enough paths to keep you from feeling like you're treading the same loop twice.

This is the kind of place that rewards a couple of hours rather than a flying visit. You're not climbing anything dramatic or spotting rare species, but if you've got kids who need burning off after a few days at Little Wold Away Glamping or Willow Pond, it works. Timing-wise, autumn's genuinely lovely if you don't mind cooler weather, when the leaf cover means decent shelter and the paths aren't churned up by summer footfall.
