Capel Hiraddug III Stone Circle

The site itself comprises a ring of stones, some standing proud, others slouching into the turf after millennia of frost and rain. You won't find interpretation boards or a visitor centre. What you get instead is the thing itself, unvarnished. Walkers gravitate here because it sits within easy reach of Ruthin and the wider Clwydian landscape. The nearest Clwydian Glamping Pods and Campsite, just under six miles away, makes a solid base for exploring the area's stone circles and ridge walks.

Allow 20 minutes if you're just paying your respects to the stones. Double that if you're the type who likes to sit quietly and absorb the atmosphere. History enthusiasts will appreciate the Bronze Age connection - this is proper ancient stuff - though those expecting dramatic monuments might find themselves underwhelmed. There's no admission charge, obviously, since there's no one manning a gate.
