The woodland here rolls across hillside in proper dense forest - tall conifers mostly, with enough paths threading through to keep you occupied for a good couple of hours. It's the sort of place where you actually feel like you've left the world behind, even though Callander is barely a stone's throw away.

There's a decent network of walking routes if you're prepared to work for the views. The terrain's fairly manageable - nothing that'll wreck your knees - though it does get muddy after rain, so bring appropriate boots. Best in autumn when the light filters through differently, or spring when things are properly waking up. Summer can feel a bit airless under the canopy.

Families with walkers aged eight and up will get genuine value here. Younger kids might find an hour enough unless they're the type who love scrambling over logs and imagining they're explorers. It's also decent for a quick leg-stretch if you're staying at Keltie Bridge Caravan Park or Callander Woods - both are within striking distance, making this an easy half-day slot in a wider park holiday.

No facilities to speak of that I could find, so come prepared with water and snacks. Free access as far as I could tell. The real appeal is solitude and honest forest walking rather than any particular landmark or feature - if you want drama, head to the hills properly. If you want to decompress among the trees, this does exactly what it says.
