The home of Stockport County Football Club sits just outside Northwich, a proper working football ground where you can actually watch proper football rather than a stadium experience. It's a modest setup - the kind of place where fans still stand in the rain and the pies are overpriced but somehow taste better than they should. The stadium itself has that no-nonsense Northern feel: red seats, tight corners, views that aren't spectacular but are honest.

Visiting on a match day is the only reason to come, frankly. You'll get the atmosphere, the roar, the sense that you're part of something real rather than a sanitised corporate event. It's not a tourist attraction in any traditional sense - there's no museum, no guided tours round the pitch. It's a football ground for football fans. If you're staying at Belmont Hall Camping nearby, it's worth timing a visit for a weekend fixture if County are at home, particularly early season when crowds are decent but not overwhelming.

Non-match days? Skip it. There's nothing to see from outside the gates except a car park and a fence. The town of Northwich itself has more to offer - the salt heritage museum, decent pubs, the Weaver area for a walk. But if you're a football person or travelling with someone who is, catching a match here beats driving fifty miles to Old Trafford or the Etihad just to sit in the gods.
