Cairn o' Mohr Fruit Wines

You'll find yourself in a working fruit wine producer just outside Perth, surrounded by orchards and the sort of place that smells properly alive with fermentation. Cairn o' Mohr makes everything from elderflower to raspberry wine using local fruit, and the staff actually know what they're talking about rather than just standing behind a till.

The tour takes you through the production process - you see the fruit coming in, watch the fermentation tanks, and understand why their wines taste nothing like the syrupy stuff you buy in supermarkets. The tasting room is the real draw: you'll sample several wines, and they're generous with pours. Even if wine isn't your thing, the raspberry is genuinely nice, and they do a non-alcoholic elderflower cordial that's worth trying.

Budget two hours if you want a proper look around and a tasting. It's worth the trip from Perth, and it breaks up a park holiday well - particularly if you're staying at Snugs at Logie Farm just down the road, which is only 3.9 miles away. The South Valleyfield site is closer at 0.9 miles but members-only, so that's less helpful.

Walkers and food-minded types will appreciate it more than kids, honestly. There's not much to keep under-tens entertained once you've seen the tanks, and it can feel a bit long if you're not interested in how wine actually gets made. Fair weather only - the car park gets muddy and there's not much shelter about.
