Caddyshackers is a miniature golf course just outside Nottingham, the sort of place that works brilliantly for a rainy afternoon or when the kids need tiring out without you having to trek across the Midlands. You get 18 holes of the usual obstacles - windmills, ramps, the lot - played on indoor and outdoor layouts depending on the weather. Nothing revolutionary about it, but that's rather the point.

Families with children aged five to thirteen will get the most mileage here. Adults can enjoy a competitive round too, though if you're hoping for craft cocktails and artisanal hole design, you'll be disappointed. It's straightforward fun rather than Instagram-worthy theatre. Expect to spend an hour, maybe ninety minutes if everyone's taking it seriously and queuing isn't mad.

If you're staying at any of the caravan parks within a couple of miles - Holme Pierrepont or Caravan Park and Campsite are the closest - this makes an easy evening activity without needing to drive far. It slots in neatly between breakfast and supper without derailing your whole day. Weather's the only real variable; the indoor section keeps you dry but can feel cramped, while the outdoor holes are proper fun on a decent day.
