Burghead Free Church

The Free Church in Burghead is a modest Victorian structure that sits quietly on the edge of this small Moray coastal village, about six miles north of Forres. It's the sort of place you'll walk past if you're not looking for it - no fanfare, no gift shop, just a straightforward stone building with a proper Highland sensibility about it.

If you're camping or glamping at The Loft, just four or five miles south towards Forres, this makes an easy morning excursion without eating into time at the bigger attractions. Allow twenty minutes inside, another half-hour if you want to explore the village itself. Free to enter, no faffing about with opening hours if you're respectful of being in an active place of worship. It's genuine rather than spectacular, which is exactly the point.
