About Bryn Llechwen
The view from the top spreads out across the Brecon Beacons massif, which is the real draw. You get a proper sense of how the valleys fold around you, and on a clear day - rare, but it happens - you can see the Swansea direction falling away to the south. The summit itself is a bit anticlimactic, just a high point on open ground, but that's half the appeal if you ask me. No crowds, no facilities, just you and the ridge.
This is a walk for people who actually enjoy walking rather than ticking boxes. You'll want a good couple of hours and proper boots, especially after rain when the path gets boggy. Families with younger kids might find it a slog, but teenagers and adults who don't need a visitor centre to make something worthwhile will get on fine. Free to access, obviously - it's open moorland.
If you're based at Brecon Beacons Camping & Caravan Park, you're barely four miles away, making this a decent morning or afternoon outing alongside the bigger peaks in the area.
