Broom Hill

History types won't get much from it - there's nothing particularly significant up here - but walkers and anyone after proper Highland air will find it satisfying.

Go early if you can, especially in summer when the light hangs around forever. The moorland can feel exposed in bad weather, so check the forecast first. Free to access, obviously, and you can start from the village without any faffing about. It's straightforward walking, nothing technical, just good honest Scottish uphill.
