The water at Brooklands Pond sits dead calm most mornings, reflecting whatever sky Dumfries has decided to serve up that day. It's a proper little spot - nothing theatrical, just a straightforward pond on the edge of town where locals bring fishing rods and families chuck bread at ducks who've frankly heard it all before.

You're looking at maybe twenty minutes here, half an hour if you're the type to sit on a bench and actually watch things. The walk around is gentle, flat, no scrambling required. Kids will get a kick out of spotting ducks and dragonflies in summer, though don't expect them to be entertained for hours. Older visitors and anyone with binoculars might spot a few interesting birds, particularly in spring migration.
