Broadway Gardens

The gardens sit just outside Wallingford, a stretch of carefully tended beds and paths that reward a proper wander rather than a quick snap for Instagram. We spent a good hour here on a grey afternoon, which felt about right - long enough to see what's on offer without overstaying the welcome.

It's the sort of place that appeals most to garden enthusiasts and anyone after a quiet hour away from the main drag. The planting is thoughtful rather than showy, with seasonal interest baked in, and there's enough room to let kids burn off some energy without feeling cramped or worried. The paths are reasonable underfoot, nothing too ambitious.

If you're camped at Bridge Villa or Rolling Fields - both very close by - this makes for a pleasant morning out before heading into Wallingford proper for lunch. It's not going to blow your mind, but that's rather the point. Sometimes you want a garden that just is what it is: well-maintained, accessible, and a decent use of an hour when the weather's playing along.

We'd recommend checking ahead for opening hours and admission fees before you plan it into your itinerary, as details are thin on the ground. But if you're already in the area and fancy something low-key, it's worth the detour from your caravan. The nearby Benson Waterfront park offers a different sort of outdoor time - this sits nicely alongside it for a well-rounded few days.
