Brixham Marina

This isn't a prettified visitor attraction pretending to be authentic; it's where actual fishermen operate from, which makes it genuinely compelling to watch. You can walk the full length of the marina free of charge, spot the day's catch being unloaded, and grab a coffee from one of the harbourside cafes while you observe the controlled chaos of a fleet at work. The Victorian lighthouse at the harbour entrance is worth circling round for too. It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for thirty minutes or an hour - long enough to soak up the atmosphere and snap some decent photos, but not so demanding that anyone expects you to be here all day. Families with kids enjoy spotting the boats and watching the fishmongers at work, though you'll want to keep small ones close to the waterside railings. From South Bay Holiday Park, which sits just over a mile away, it's a proper nice walk into town, or a quick drive if the weather turns. Summer mornings are best - less busy than afternoons, and you catch the fleet heading out or returning with the night's haul. Free to wander, no ticketing, no closing time really - it's a working harbour so it's always there.
