Brimpts Mine (Wheelpit)

Walking into Brimpts Mine feels like stepping backwards into the Industrial Revolution, except you're on Dartmoor in the middle of Devon moorland. This abandoned wheelpit - where tin and copper were extracted - sits quietly among heather and granite outcrops, the old machinery and stone structures still standing after decades of neglect.

What you're actually looking at is industrial archaeology in its rawest form. The wheel itself is long gone, but the pit and associated workings tell the story of 19th-century mining operations when this part of the moor was alive with activity.
