Brighton College Swimming Pool (not open to the public)

Brighton College's swimming pool sits behind the gates of one of England's most prestigious independent schools, and here's the thing - you can't actually get in unless you're a pupil or parent. It's a proper state-of-the-art facility that the school guards jealously, which is frustrating if you're passing through Brighton looking for a decent indoor swim.

The pool itself is excellent by all accounts. Modern, well-maintained, Olympic-standard dimensions. But that's academic if you're a casual visitor or holidaymaker. Brighton has other public swimming options - the seafront lido and various leisure centres actually welcome the general public, unlike this one.

If you're camped at Brighton Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite just over a mile away, or at Pegs and Pitches or Chalky Downs further out, don't bother making this a stop on your itinerary. It'll only annoy you when you arrive and realise access is strictly members only. The school's boundary walls make it clear this isn't a community facility.

Head into Brighton proper instead. You'll find better publicly accessible pools, plus the seafront, the Lanes, and all the buzz of the actual town. Save your swimming time for places that actually want your custom.
