Brighstone & Shorwell Methodist Church

Two small Methodist chapels on the Isle of Wight that tell you quite a lot about rural worship on the island, if you're into that sort of thing. If you're walking through the Brighstone and Shorwell area, they're worth a quiet look-in, especially if you're interested in how ordinary Victorians actually worshipped.

Families with young kids might find twenty minutes enough unless someone's keen on Methodist history. But walkers exploring inland from Newport toward the south coast could easily slot both in during a longer ramble - they're basically free to visit, though you'll want to check opening times locally. The countryside around them is the real draw: rolling Isle of Wight farmland with proper views. If you're staying at Grange Farm Camping just down the road, or any of the farms like Tapnell, these make a gentle morning stroll before heading elsewhere on the island.
