Brickyard Quarry (disused)

The old brickyard near Whitby is one of those places that rewards a bit of wandering off the beaten track. Free to visit, naturally. There's no formal entrance or facilities, so come prepared with decent footwear - the ground can be boggy and uneven depending on weather. Combine it with Northcliffe and Seaview Holiday Parks just four and a half miles away if you're basing yourself nearby. It's the sort of place that works best as part of a broader exploration of the area rather than a destination in itself, but for industrial archaeologists or anyone fascinated by how landscapes are made and remade, it's well worth the detour.
