Bragdy Mantle Brewery

The smell hits you first when you walk into Bragdy Mantle - that yeasty, hoppy warmth that tells you something proper is being made here. It's a working brewery just outside Cardigan, and they actually let you in to watch the process rather than just flogging you a pint and moving you along.

You can see the kit, chat to the brewers about what they're doing, and try their beers. It's genuinely small-scale operation stuff, not some corporate visitor centre with laminated boards. They take what they do seriously but don't take themselves seriously, which is the sweet spot for a brewery visit.

The place works best for adults who actually care about beer - if you're dragging reluctant teenagers through here, you'll lose them after ten minutes. But if someone in your group is into craft brewing or just wants to understand where their pint comes from, it's worth the trip from Cardigan. Weekday mornings are quieter and the brewers are more chatty.

Opening hours are tight - weekdays 9am to 5pm, Saturday mornings only - so plan around that. It slots perfectly if you're staying at Cardigan Bay Holiday Park or Gwbert Glamping nearby. Neither are far, both are excellent bases for exploring the Cardigan coastline. The brewery itself won't swallow your whole afternoon, but paired with a walk around Cardigan or lunch by the water, it makes for a proper West Wales day out.
