Bolventor Church

The interior is modest but genuine - no tourist polish, no gift shop, just worn stone and the smell of old hymn books. If you're into church architecture or local history, there's plenty to absorb. The setting alone justifies the visit; the views across Bodmin Moor are legitimately stunning, especially on a clear day.

It's not a lengthy stop - thirty minutes to an hour covers it properly - but it's the sort of detour that makes a Cornish holiday feel less packaged. Walkers will appreciate the location; families with very young children might find it a bit sparse unless they're genuinely interested in churches. There's a certain melancholy beauty to it that won't appeal to everyone, and that's fine.

The nearest proper facilities are in Launceston, so plan accordingly. If you're staying at Ekopod Glamping or Trewithen Farm, both within five miles or so, this works as a quiet morning outing before heading to busier attractions.
