Bog Mytle Wood

The woodland path at Bog Mytle Wood is proper wet underfoot - bring decent boots. This is a genuine Scottish forest walk just outside Callander, the kind of place locals actually use rather than tour groups clogging up the car parks. You'll find yourself among native woodland with the Teith River somewhere nearby, though the trees muffle the sound and create an oddly peaceful atmosphere.

It's excellent for walkers who want something honest and straightforward - no dramatic vistas, just good forest air and roots to negotiate. The ground can be boggy in places (the name should've tipped you off), so it's less suitable for young children unless you don't mind them returning to the caravan looking like they've been mud-wrestling.
