Boddington’s Berries

Strawberry fields really do stretch forever at this working fruit farm just outside Mevagissey. Boddington's Berries lets you pick your own soft fruit during the summer months, with endless rows of strawberry plants, raspberries, and blackcurrants ripe for the taking.

Kids absolutely love the treasure hunt aspect of finding the biggest, juiciest berries, though expect sticky fingers and the odd tantrum when they eat more than goes in the punnet. The farm operates on an honesty system for weighing and payment, which feels refreshingly old-fashioned in our contactless world.

Open Monday to Friday only, so weekend warriors will miss out entirely. Allow a good hour if the children are in full picking mode, though you could easily spend longer if the weather's decent and the fruit's particularly good. The farm typically runs from late May through to early September, but ring ahead as picking depends entirely on the season.

For families staying at nearby Pentewan Sands Holiday Park or Heligan Caravan and Camping Park, it's a lovely way to spend a morning before hitting the beach. The drive from Mevagissey takes barely five minutes, and you'll come away with enough fruit for pudding for days. Just don't wear your best clothes - berry juice stains like nobody's business.
