Blackpool Football Club's home ground since 1901, Bloomfield Road is a proper football cathedral on the Lancashire coast. The stadium's brick facade and towering floodlights are instantly recognisable - it's the kind of place where you can feel decades of football history seeping from the terraces.

Unless you're catching a match, there's not much to do inside without a guided tour, which you'd need to arrange in advance. But if you're here during the season, a live game is unmissable. The atmosphere on match days is electric, with thousands of fans creating something genuinely special. Even non-football types often find themselves swept up in it.

Football fans staying at Haven Marton Mere or Newton Hall Holiday Park - both within a couple of miles - can easily pop over for a fixture. The stadium sits right on the edge of Blackpool proper, so it works well as part of a wider holiday in the area. Parking can be tricky on match days, so arrive early or use public transport from the town centre.

The ground itself is modest compared to modern Premier League stadiums, but that's rather the charm. It's honest, working-class football at its best. If you're a club supporter or just keen on football heritage, it's absolutely worth a visit. Casual tourists might find it less compelling unless there's a match on - you're essentially looking at an empty stadium from the outside.
