Blendworth Lith

A proper walk through beech and oak woodland just outside Emsworth, Blendworth Lith is one of those local spots that doesn't get the crowds. The forest floor here is thick with leaf litter, and in spring the whole place turns green before anywhere else seems to notice. There's a decent network of paths threading through - nothing too demanding, mostly flat to gently rolling terrain that takes between 45 minutes and two hours depending on which route you fancy.

The light filters through the canopy in that particular way that makes you understand why people get romantic about English forests. It's genuinely quiet, which counts for a lot these days. Families with younger kids will do fine here - the paths are manageable and there's enough space to let them burn off energy without worrying about busy trails. Older walkers get the most satisfaction, though. This is proper countryside walking, not a tourist loop.

Bringing a dog is straightforward enough, and you'll see regular walkers with theirs. Best visited early morning or midweek if you want the place virtually to yourself. Autumn is exceptional - the beech turning copper and gold against dark trunks - but it's worth the walk in any season bar the wettest months when things get genuinely boggy.

If you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots like Wallops Wood or The Old Dairy Farm, Blendworth Lith makes an easy morning sortie before heading into Emsworth proper for lunch. Combine it with a longer county park day and you've got a solid outdoor routine going.
