Blackbrake Plantation

You'll find yourself walking into proper woodland near Warwick - the kind of place where the light filters through the canopy and you can actually hear yourself think. Blackbrake Plantation is straightforward: a forest block with paths threading through mature trees, nothing fancy, but that's rather the point.

It's the sort of spot where walkers come to clear their heads. The trails are decent enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might find it a bit samey after twenty minutes or so - it's trees, more trees, then a bit more woodland. If you're expecting drama or viewpoints, you'll be disappointed. What you get instead is a proper walk in a working forest, which has its own appeal.

The whole thing takes ninety minutes maximum at a leisurely pace, though you could knock it out in half that if you're just passing through. Free access as far as I can tell, and no silly visitor facilities to navigate.

As part of a Warwickshire caravan trip, it works well enough. Green Gates Caravan and Motorhome Site sits just under six miles away, and The Apple Farm Glamping is similar distance - both solid options if you're basing yourself around the area. The plantation pairs nicely with an afternoon exploring Warwick town itself rather than standing as a day-long attraction. Good for stretching your legs between other activities, less good if you're hunting for a proper day out.
